China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) has won an order for 12 LR2 dual-fuel tankers in a series from local owner Bank of Communications (BoComm).
The tankers will each have a deadweight of 120,000 tonnes and will be built by CSSC subsidiaries Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) and Shanghai Waiqaogiao Shipbuilding (SWS). As dual-fuel vessels, these will be able to operate on either diesel or LNG.
Delivery of all 12 tankers in the order is expected by 2023. Eight will be built by GSI while the remaining four will be built by SWS.
