Continental Bitumen orders product tankers from Chinese yard

French shipowner Continental Bitumen has placed an order for two product tankers in a series from China’s Wuhu Shipyard.

The vessels will each have independent cargo tanks for bitumen and asphalt and a total cargo capacity of 21,000 cubic metres.

The propulsion system on each ship will consist of a four-stroke, dual fuel main engine driving a controllable-pitch propeller. LNG and liquid biogas (LBG) will be used as the main fuels.

Naval architects FKAB Marine Design will provide basic and detail design for the vessels through its offices in Sweden and China.
