China Merchants Jinling Shipyard has been awarded a contract to build two additional ice-class tankers in a series for Swedish shipowner Furetank.

The tankers will be built to a design by Swedish naval architecture firm FKAB Marine Design. Each will have ice class 1A notation, a maximum deadweight of 18,000, batteries, and dual-fuel engines that can run on LNG.

Deliveries are scheduled to be completed by early 2027. Once in service, the vessels will be operated in the North Sea.
