Build of chemical tanker pair begins in Russia

The Astrakhan Shipbuilding Production Association (ASPO) recently held a keel laying ceremony for a pair of chemical tankers of Project 00216M ordered by USC subsidiary Caspian Energy, LLC Volgotrans and CJSC Goznak-Leasing

The first chemical carrier is scheduled for launch in 2019, the second in 2020. The project was developed by specialists at Vympel Shipyard.

The overall length of the vessels is 141 metres, with beams of 16.7-metres, and depth of 6.0 metres. Deadweight in rivers with a draught of 3.6 metres is 5,350 tonnes, and 7,900 tonnes at with a draught of 4.6 metres.
