Three people were killed by an explosion on a berthed commercial tanker at the Port of Wuhu on China’s Yangtze River in the early morning (local time) of Sunday, September 26.

All three victims were crewmen on the Chinese-flagged tanker Hua Hong 18, which had arrived at the port the day before.

Although authorities have not disclosed where the explosion occurred on board the ship, the crewmen were working near the site of the blast at the time and ended up suffering serious injuries. All three died while undergoing treatment in hospital.

No injuries have been reported among the tanker’s remaining crew.
