AET takes delivery of DP2 shuttle tanker

Singapore-based AET has taken delivery of a new Suezmax shuttle tanker from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).

The DP2-equipped Eagle Pilar has been purpose built for long-term charter to Brazil Shipping I, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell. It is the eleventh DP shuttle tanker to join the AET fleet.

AET claims the 153,180DWT vessel was built in full compliance to IMO NOx Tier III and SOx emission requirements and is 25 to 30 per cent more fuel efficient than older DP-equipped shuttle tanker designs.

SHI will deliver a further three near identical sisters to AET by 2022.
