Samsung receives LNG-FSRU order

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has won an order to build a floating storage and regasification unit (LNG-FSRU) for a consortium including Japanese firms Marubeni and Sojitz, and Indonesia’s Pertamina.

The newbuild order for a 17,000,000 cubic metre vessel was for KRW250 billion (US$220.6 million).

A LNG-FSRU is a specialised vessel that regasifies (re-evaporates) LNG offshore before transport it to a distribution terminal onshore.

It will be equipped with Samsung’s latest regasification system, the S-Regas (GI).
