Hyundai Mipo Dockyards enters small-scale LNG carrier market with Knutsen order

Hyundai Mipo Dockyards has won an order for a 30,000-cubic-metre LNG carrier from Knutsen OAS Shipping of Norway.

The US$70 million contract also includes one option for a second vessel.

The vessel will have a length of 180 metres and a width of 28.4 metres. It will be equipped with a dual fuel propulsion system that can also run on LNG.

This will be Hyundai Mipo Dockyards’ first small-scale (typically 40,000 cubic metres maximum) LNG carrier to be built for an international customer. It is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2021.
