Russia’s Zvezda Shipyard to build Aframax tankers for Sovcomflot

Russian petroleum and LNG shipping company Sovcomflot placed an order with Zvezda Shipyard for a new series of Aframax tankers at the fourth Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on Tuesday, September 11.

The first vessel, which will be named St. Petersburg, is just one in a series of 10 tankers.

The 114,000DWT tanker will measure 250 by 44 by 21 metres and will have a total cargo tank capacity of 129,400 cubic metres.

One of the technical features of the vessel is the ability to operate on both liquid and gas fuels. The use of gas fuels is in compliance with new MARPOL regulations on nitrogen oxide and sulphur oxide emissions.
