Project to reduce emissions at Kapellskär, Naantali ports secures EU grant funding

Sweden’s Port of Kapellskär, together with the Finnish Port of Naantali, has been granted EU funding to reduce, among other things, air pollutant emissions from shipping.

The goal of this project by Ports of Stockholm is to strengthen the links between Kapellskär and Naantali by reducing, among other things, emissions of air pollutants within the port areas.

The initiative will also mean investments in facilities for the provision of onshore power for vessels at the quayside at Kapellskär. This smaller sub-project has also been awarded funding from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.

The project will start during October/November 2020 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.

The grant was provided through the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) fund.
