The US Department of Transportation is awarding a US$10 million Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) grant for a dock expansion project at the Port of Morgan City in southern Lousiana.

The funding will be used to expand the Port of Morgan City’s dock by adding approximately 1.6 acres (0.64 hectares) of concrete laydown area and building an additional 8,880-square-foot (824-square-metre) wharf-relieving platform structure to support wharf extension.

The additional works will complement an earlier phase, which was funded by the port and the State of Louisiana, and completes all phases of the port’s Western Dock Expansion project.
