The Port of Southampton’s new cruise facility, Horizon Cruise Terminal, opened its doors to passengers for the first time on Saturday, July 3.

Associated British Ports (ABP) said the opening of the facility to passengers comes ahead of its formal opening later in the year.

MSC Cruises’ MSC Virtuosa is the first ship to welcome passengers at the terminal, which is also fitted with shore power charging facilities. The shore charging terminals will be commissioned later this year.

The terminal was completed under a £55 million (US$76 million) project in partnership with MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.
