Stena Line upgrades Welsh port of Holyhead

Stena Line's Europoort Terminal has been officially reopened. — Stena Line’s Europoort Terminal has been officially reopened.

Stena Line Ports is investing more than £4 million (US$5.5 million) to improve infrastructure at the Port of Holyhead in Wales.

Stena Line’s Irish Sea South Ports Manager, Captain Wyn Parry, said the upgrades will include the creation of additional freight space and extensive refurbishment to the Terminal 3 ramp.

“We’re always looking at ways to improve our facilities for our freight and travel customers and the two upgrades will certainly have a positive impact on our ability to remain competitive and efficient,” Captain Parry said.

“The new lower deck of T3 was fabricated by McGregor and transported to the port by barge. Unfortunately, the exchange to the new linkspan will mean a minor inconvenience to port customers, but we have worked hard to minimise the impact.”

The works follow a record year for freight in 2017.

Meanwhile, Stena Line has officially re-opened its rebuilt Stena Line Europoort Terminal.

It was part of a project with the Port of Rotterdam to develop a second 212-metre berth and refurbish the existing berth to help increase freight volumes.
