UK marine heavy transport company Osprey Shipping has confirmed its £3 million (US$3.71 million) order for two flat-top barges from an unnamed builder.

The non-self-propelled vessels, which will be named Osprey Bouwer and Osprey Fabrique, will each have a length of 50 metres, a beam of 18.8 metres, a depth of three metres, and a deck capacity of 20 tonnes per square metre.

The barges are “unrestricted sailing area” classified by ABS and will be used for the transport of oversized and heavy equipment.

Osprey Bouwer and Osprey Fabrique will be delivered in the first quarter of 2021 and deployed to support specialist logistics operations in France, Morocco, and the Eastern Mediterranean.
