Wallenius Wilhelmsen returns nine ships from lay-up

Wallenius Wilhelmsen has put nine of its laid-up ships back in service to address reduced capacity and rising rates in the charter market.

Plans are in place to reactivate these vessels during the first quarter of 2021 to replace capacity currently sourced through short-term charters.

The company had earlier put 16 of its vessels in cold lay-up and slated another four ships for recycling in response to the market conditions brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.
