Russian operator Rosmorport has commenced regular sailings of a new Ro-Ro rail ferry between the ports of Ust-Luga and Baltiysk.

The Marine Engineering Bureau-designed Marshal Rokossovskiy was built by local company Nevsky Shipyard in cooperation with Kuzey Star Shipyard in Turkey. The ship measures 199.99 by 27 metres and can simultaneously transport railway cars, dangerous goods, and up to 30 reefer containers.

The ferry also has the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping’s Arc4 ice class notation.

Rosmorport will place a second ferry from the same series into service before the end of the year.
