Mitsui OSK Line begins operation of new Ro-Ro

Mitsui OSK Lines has begun operation of Orca Ace, a Ro-Ro built Japan and owned by the Panama-based Lunar River Line.

The vessel is 200 metres long with a deadweight capacity of 15,495 tonnes. Her specially designed hull shape and improved two-stroke engine help reduce carbon emissions.

The vessel completed her maiden voyage on August 8. Orca Ace began her journey to the United States in July 2018, departing from Hitachinaka, Japan.

Once berthed at the Port of Vancouver, International Longshore and Warehouse Union crews discharged 2,300 Subaru vehicles to be processed at the port and shipped to buyers across the Northern US.
