Ports of Stockholm, Mälarhamnar to collaborate on new inland shipping route

Swedish port operators Ports of Stockholm and Mälarhamnar have agreed to collaborate to enable inland shipping along a new route between the newly completed Stockholm Norvik Port and the ports of Kõping and Västerås.

Ports of Stockholm said that the transport of goods along Stockholm’s Lake Mälaren is expected to help in the decongestion of the road and rail networks in the Greater Stockholm region.

The new service will commence upon once Stockholm Norvik Port opens and begins regular operations in May of this year.
