Norwegian shipowner United European Car Carriers (UECC) has taken delivery of the world's first dual-fuel LNG battery hybrid pure car and truck carrier (PCTC).

Built by Jiangnan Shipyard of China, the DNV-classed Auto Advance is the first in a series of three ships that each measure 169 by 28 metres and have capacity for 3,600 vehicles on 10 cargo decks. The propulsion arrangement includes dual-fuel engines, a WE Tech energy storage system, and Corvus Energy PM-charged batteries.

The vessel also has an intelligent energy management system supplied by Kongsberg Maritime.

Auto Advance's two remaining sisters are scheduled for delivery in 2022.
