Norwegian shipping company Gram Car Carriers (GCC) has formed a new business unit for the purpose of ordering four 7,000CEU dual-fuel, pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) from a Chinese shipbuilder.

The newly established Global Auto Carriers (GAC) will operate the PCTCs, which will be built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai). GAC will hold options for up to four additional vessels from the same series.

The shipbuilding contracts for the first four vessels are scheduled to be awarded within the second quarter of 2022. Deliveries will take place from the fourth quarter of 2025 through to the fourth quarter of 2026.

Three of the optional vessels meanwhile have expected deliveries in 2027 and 2028.
