MOL orders four more locally-built LNG-fueled car carriers

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has entered into agreements with Japanese shipbuilders Nihon Shipyard and Shin Kurushima Dockyard four 7,000CEU car carriers that will use LNG as their main fuel.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery during the 2024 to 2025 timeframe. MOL will then have a total of eight newbuild LNG-fueled car carriers, including an earlier four vessels slated for delivery in 2024.

The acquisition of the car carriers is part of MOL’s plan to have a fleet of 90 LNG-fueled vessels by 2030.
