MOL announces delivery of first Flexie series car carrier

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has accepted delivery of the delivery of car carrier Beluga Ace, which was built at Japan’s Minaminippon Shipbuilding Co.

The first car carrier of the Flexie series, the 199.9-metre by 32.2-metre Beluga Ace has six liftable decks, compared with two on most car carriers.

It has a capacity of 6,800 standard passenger vehicles.

The result of joint research by MOL, MOL Techno-Trade and Akishima Laboratories (Mitsui Zosen), Beluga Ace features a rounded bow shape to minimise wind resistance and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by two per cent.
