China’s SAIC Group orders two LNG dual-fuel car carriers from local builder

Chinese shipping company the SAIC Group, through subsidiary Anji Logistics, has awarded Jiangnan Shipbuilding a contract for the construction of two vehicle carriers in a series.

Each vessel will have capacity for 7,600 CEUs and a dual-fuel propulsion system that will also run on LNG. The propulsion will deliver a maximum speed of 19 knots and a range of 18,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 16 knots.

The cargo deck heights on each ship can be adjusted to accommodate larger vehicles such as lorries and buses.
