MOL takes delivery of 60,000DWT wood chip carrier

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has taken delivery of a new wood chip carrier from local yard Oshima Shipbuilding.

The vessel has been named Southern Ace since it will be used to transport wood chips made from timber that was sustainably sourced in the Southern Hemisphere. It will be operated under a long-term charter between MOL and Hokuetsu Corporation.

The vessel has an LOA of 209.96 metres, a beam of 37 metres, a deadweight of 60,222 tonnes, and a total cargo capacity of approximately 121,000 cubic metres.
