CSL Group’s newest lake bulker sails on maiden voyage

A new self-unloading bulk cargo vessel ordered by Canadian shipowner the CSL Group departed on its maiden voyage on Monday, January 31.

Built in China, Nukumi will be operated by CSL subsidiary Canada Steamship Lines in support of the activities Windsor Salt. Specifically, the vessel will load de-icing salt at Windsor’s Mines Seleine mine near Newfoundland and deliver it to stockpiles throughout Eastern Canada to help keep roadways safe during the winter season.

The 26,000DWT newbuild features diesel-electric propulsion, a single-point-of-loading system, and a shuttle boom.
