Crowley Maritime Corporation has unveiled a concept design for an accommodation vessel optimised for medical support duties in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company said that its existing fleet of multi-purpose barges could undergo temporary conversion to enable them to incorporate the design, which would allow up to 500 people to be housed on board each vessel.
The barges may be deployed in both coastal and inland waterways.
