Construction begins on second bulker in series for China’s ICBC Leasing

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) recently held a steel-cutting ceremony to mark the start of construction of a new 250,000DWT bulk carrier ordered by Chinese owner ICBC Leasing.

The vessel will be the second in a series that SWS is building for ICBC. It will have an LOA of 299.88 metres, a beam of 50 metres, and a depth of 25.2 metres.

Once delivered, the bulk carrier will commence sailing under charter with CITIC Metal, a Chinese import and export company specialising in metals and iron ore.
