BOOK REVIEW | Supercargo Operations – An Introduction

Mike Wall is unstoppable. A former marine engineer, he has practiced as a marine surveyor and marine educationalist for more than 40 years, most recently from his “retirement” home in Thailand. He has written nearly a dozen books and dozens of training modules and articles on marine superintendency, ship surveying, yacht and small craft surveying and ship building and repair. Within those, he has managed to squeeze very valuable advice on running small businesses. He even manages to produce a regular column for Baird Maritime!

His books are simply and very clearly written and appropriately illustrated. They are both excellent textbooks and very useful and readable practical guides.

His latest book is no exception to all the above. It is all about marine cargoes and covers loading, stowage, protection, care and unloading. Every imaginable cargo and ship type is described in this wide-ranging tome that draws on Mike’s lengthy and wide-ranging experience. It is an excellent practical guide to this very important subject.
