Germany’s Arkon Shipping and Norwegian company Wilson have entered into an agreement to operate the largest single fleet of short-sea dry bulk vessels in the European market.

Wilson will take about 20 dry bulk carriers on a long-term lease from Arkon’s represented coaster fleet, including two newbuildings scheduled to be delivered in two years’ time. Wilson will also be ready to perform all contracts and client commitments currently performed by Arkon.

Meanwhile, Arkon, as an exclusive commercial representative, will be integrated into Wilson’s chartering system and handle export fixtures for the whole Wilson fleet in the Mediterranean.

Once the agreement takes effect, Wilson will operate a fleet of more than 130 ships of which 92 are owner-controlled.

The agreement may be subject to approval for relevant authorities and is scheduled to be implemented during the second half of 2020 with start-up on September 1, 2020, at the earliest.
