Grimaldi Group takes delivery of PCTC Grande New York

The Grande Baltimora, which is the sister vessel of Grande New York.

The second of a series of three 12-deck pure car and truck carriers (PCTC), Grande New York, has been delivered to the Grimaldi Group.

Delivered at Jinling’s Chinese shipyards at Nanjing, the 199.90-metre vessel has a width of 32.26 metres, a gross tonnage of 63,000 tonnes and a cruising speed of 19 knots.
The new Italian-flag unit can carry 6,700 CEU (car equivalent units) or alternatively 4,000 linear metres of rolling freight and 2,500 CEU.

It is equipped with four hoistable decks that provide scope to transport any type of rolling cargo (cars, vans, trucks, tractors, buses and excavators) up to 5.2 metres in height.

It has two access ramps, a side ramp and a quarter stern ramp, the latter allowing the loading of freight units with a weight up to 150 tonnes.

Grande New York left Nanjing for Antwerp, where she will be deployed on the group’s weekly ro-ro service between the Mediterranean and North America.

The next vessel, Grande Halifax, is scheduled for delivery in January.
