Kawasaki unveils LNG-powered bulker

Kawasaki Heavy Industries has unveiled a design for a new 200,000DWT bulk carrier powered by LNG.

The design, which has received an Approval in Principle (AiP) from ClassNK, places the LNG fuel tank behind the accommodation in the stern, thereby ensuring cargo space that is as large as those on conventional oil-fueled ships.

The vessel will have an LOA of approximately 300 metres, a width of 50 metres, and a draught of 18.4 metres.
