A cargo ship ran aground in Saltstraumen strait in the Norwegian municipality of Bodø on the morning of Monday, October 15.

The 44.29- by 8.56-metre Kanutta was sailing from Bodø to Fauske when it ran aground.

No injuries were reported and the ship did not suffer water ingress or any major form of damage. It was finally pulled back into the water by a rescue boat at 13:20.

Saltstraumen is known for having one of the strongest tidal currents in the world with up to 400,000,000 cubic metres of seawater passing through the three-kilometre by 150-metre strait every six hours, according to the Norwegian Environment Agency.
