Cargill charters Salt Lake City

Swiss-based Cargill International has signed a time charter contract with Diana Shipping for its 171,810DWT Capesize dry bulk vessel Salt Lake City.

Built in 2005 at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, the Bureau Veritas-classed vessel has a 187,606-cubic-metre cargo capacity.

The 289-metre by 45-metre vessel has an operating speed of 15 knots.

The gross charter rate is US$16,250 a day, minus a 4.75 per cent commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum eight months to a maximum of 10 months.

The charter was expected to start on May 1.

The contract is expected to generate US$3.9 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period.
