World-first pool for dock vessels starts on April 1

Netherlands-based RollDock and Germany’s SAL Heavy Lift will join forces to create the world’s first pool for dock vessels from April 1.

The pool for roll-on/roll-off and float-in/float-out heavy lift cargoes will comprise the combined fleet of six geared dock vessels and will be managed by RollDock.

SAL will provide specialised heavy break bulk cargo support.

The pool will be operated under the RollDock brand.

Five of the vessels come from the RollDock fleet (S and ST class vessels) and one from SAL (Combi Dock I).

Both companies will continue to operate independently outside of the pool.
