Three Ultramax newbuilds enter Tomini fleet

Tomini Shipping has ushered in the New Year with the delivery and naming of three Ultramax carriers in China.

Delivered on January 3, the naming ceremony for Tomini Prosperity (63,503DWT), Tomini Liberty (63,511DWT) and Tomini Dynasty (63,657DWT) was held at COSCO Shipping’s Jiangdu city shipyard.

Tomini Shipping’s newbuilding program, which includes orders for another six vessels, seeks to replenish the fleet with modern, eco-friendly ships.

Tomini Shipping placed an order in November for three Kamsarmax vessels.

The 82,000DWT ships are being built by Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding, and are scheduled for delivery from the second half of 2019 onwards.

“We aim to become a specialist in selected dry bulk vessel segments namely Ultramaxes and Kamsarmaxes,” said Chairman Imtiaz Shaikh.
