STLC orders eight dry cargo ships

Russia’s Okskaya Sudoverf has accepted an order from STLC to build eight Project RSD32M dry cargo ships.

To be built for use by Moscow-based Navis-1, the 123.0-metre-LOA and 16.7-metre-BOA vessels can be operated in sea areas and inland waterways, including the Volga-Baltic Waterway and Volga-Don Canal.

Designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, the dry cargo carrier is intended for the transportation of general and dry bulk cargo, including grain, bundled and sawn timber, round timber, metal scrap, bundled and coiled metal, heavy and oversized cargo, coal, and hazardous cargo.

The 5,100DWT vessels, which have a class designation of КМ Ice1 R2 AUT1-ICS, have an operating speed of 10 knots.

They are scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2019.
