Ardent completes salvage operation on sunken containers from YM Efficiency

TUG & SALVAGE WEEK

Ardent Oceania has successfully concluded a container removal operation off Newcastle, Australia, whereby over 60 submerged containers which had fallen from the Liberian-flagged vessel YM Efficiency in June 2018 were located, removed from the seabed, and dismantled onshore.

In late 2019, a partnership led by Ardent was awarded a salvage contract by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) after an extensive tender process. The two other partner companies on the salvage work are Helix Robotics Solutions and environmental disposal specialist Avcon.

The salvage team included Ardent personnel from Australia, Singapore, and the Netherlands. The AMSA also cooperated with Ardent in the removal work.
