South Korean shipping company HMM has entered into contracts with local shipyards Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for the construction of 12 new container vessels.

Each vessel will have capacity for 13,000 TEUs. The two yards will each build six vessels for deliveries by the first half of 2024.

All 12 ships will be installed with hybrid scrubbers and will be designed to be LNG-ready.
