Seaspan to acquire six containerships on long-term charter for US$380 million

Hong Kong-based Seaspan Corporation has agreed to purchase a fleet of six containerships for approximately US$380 million.

The closing of the acquisition is expected to occur in December 2019, and is subject to customary closing conditions.

The acquisition will bring Seaspan’s global fleet capacity to approximately 975,000 TEUs.

The containerships will include three 10,700TEU vessels and three 9,200TEU vessels, all of which are currently operating under long-term charter with an unnamed shipping company.
