Russian marine engineering firm Vympel Design Bureau has unveiled images of a new vessel capable of carrying both dry and containerised cargo.

The ships to be built under the Project 00108 series will each have capacity for 429 TEUs when sailing through inland waters and 531 TEUs in the open sea.

United Shipbuilding Corporation, Vympel’s parent company, said the positioning of the superstructure further forward will ensure a 50 per cent increase in container carrying capacity compared to the Project RSD59 river/sea cargo vessels.
