Hong Kong-based OOCL has entered into newbuilding contracts for five containerships with two joint venture companies formed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and China COSCO Shipping Corporation.

Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) and Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS) are scheduled to begin deliveries of the vessels in 2023.

Each containership will cost US$155.68 million and will have a nominal capacity of 23,000 TEUs. These will join OOCL’s fleet of 21,000TEU vessels on the company’s expanded Asia-Europe service.
