ONE orders ten boxships from Japanese, Korean yards

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has entered into shipbuilding contracts with both Nihon Shipyard of Japan and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) of South Korea to construct five vessels each, adding a total of ten modern very large container ships (VLCS) to ONE’s fleet.

Each VLCS will have a nominal capacity of more than 13,700 TEUs. Deliveries are scheduled for 2025.

The vessels will be planned for the “Ready notation” or Approval in Principle (AIP) of Ammonia and Methanol as fuel, Carbon Capture and Storage.
