MPC Container Ships orders two methanol-fueled 1,300TEU newbuildings

Oslo-based MPC Container Ships has awarded China’s Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering a contract for the construction of two 1,300TEU container vessels.

The newbuildings will be fitted with dual-fuel engines that can operate on methanol as well as conventional MGO.

The vessels will be delivered by the second half of 2024. Once in service, they will operate on 15-year time charters with North Sea Container Line.
