On September 7, Japan Marine United (JMU) delivered the 14,000TEU energy saving container ship One Aquila to Greta Ship Holding Co.
Built in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, the vessel can load containers of 18 rows by 11 columns in the hold, and 20 rows by nine columns on the deck.
The container load capacity was improved by the use of ultra-thick high tensile strength steel, developed jointly with the Daicel Corporation.
By adopting JMU’s proprietary energy-saving devices such as Surf-Bulb and ALV-Fin the company claims significantly exceeding EEDI Phase 3 standards.
The electronically-controlled main engine is highly efficient, achieving high fuel efficiency at a wide range of speeds.
The 364- by 50-metre One Aquila has a deadweight of 138,00 tonnes, speed of 22.4 knots and capacity of 30 people.
