UAE logistics company DP World and the Saudi Ports Authority have launched the first direct shipping line connecting Jebel Ali Port in Dubai with Egypt's Sokhna Port through Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Ports Authority president Saad Alkhalb said the new line will provide shipping services on the Red Sea coast as well as connect Jeddah Islamic Port with more ports in Asia and Europe.
To help further enhance the new service, DP World will improve and modernise Jeddah Islamic Port to enable access for ultra-large containerships under a 30-year build-operate-transfer concession awarded by Saudi Ports Authority in December 2019.
