CU Lines orders two 2,700TEU newbuildings

China United Lines (CU Lines) has awarded China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) subsidiary Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding a contract for the construction of two container vessels in a series.

Each newbuilding will have an LOA of 188.8 metres, a beam of 32.2 metres, capacity for 2,700 TEUs, and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system that will ensure compliance with IMO Tier III NOx emissions requirements.

The vessels are to be delivered from the second half of 2023 and will be classed by China Classification Society (CCS).
