Willard Marine has announced that the United States Coast Guard (USCG) has approved its Sea Force 670-series of SOLAS rescue boat.
The USCG approval signifies that the Willard Marine rescue boat meets the standards established by the IMO under the safety of life at sea (SOLAS) treaty, as well as Title 46 Code of Federal Regulations.
The new Sea Force 670 model uses a Volvo Penta D3 engine paired with a Hamilton waterjet drive. According to Willard, this marine diesel engine meets both IMO Tier 2 NOx limits and EPA Tier 3 emissions requirements.
Willard Marine also announced that it has received orders to deliver four of the new Volvo Penta-powered boats to the US Military Sealift Command, as well as one for the Texas A&M Maritime Academy training ship 'General Rudder'.
