Keel laying for multipurpose nuclear submarine scheduled for July 2010

The date for the keel laying ceremony for the Russian Navy's next Yasen-class multipurpose submarine has been set for July 24, 2010.

This vessel will be the "first improved Project 855 submarine" to be built at the Sevmash Shipyard, using materials and parts made solely in Russia. The submarine will also have a new type of electronic warfare radio.
