From Baird Maritime:
With a foreword by George H.W. Bush, Lieutenant, U.S. Navy Reserve, this fine collection of essays lacks nothing in the way of firepower.
Fourteen of America's best known naval aviation experts have contributed 16 carefully considered essays to this book which celebrates the Centenary of the U.S. Navy's involvement with aviation.
While very sound in its history and even its present, the book makes few predictions for the future. Given that there are naval intellectuals who see aircraft carriers going the way of battleships in the near future, this is a significant omission.
With China now seen as America's greatest naval threat, it is a pity that no mention is made of China's unorthodox approach. What about UAVs and hypersonic cruise missiles, for example.
Nevertheless, the book still makes a very fine contribution to the history of twentieth century naval avaiation and its part in the activities of the U.S. Navy.
