Kvichak Marine Industries, of Seattle, USA, is currently constructing a 13.5-metre response boat medium (RBM-C) for operation by the New York City Police Harbour Unit.
This vessel is a sistership of the US Coast Guard RBM and has been adapted to meet the mission requirements of the NYPD Harbour Unit.
The boat will be named at a special dedication ceremony in New York City honouring an officer who was killed in the line of duty.
Designed by Camarc Design, UK, the all-aluminium vessel is powered by twin Detroit Diesel 60 series engines each rated 615kW. Rolls Royce Kamewa FF375S waterjets were chosen as the propulsor system. This combination allows for excellent manoeuvrability and a top speed exceeding 45 knots.
Delivery is scheduled for April 2010.
